BYOD is coming in one year or less

The latest NMC Horizon Report K-12 Edition (which you can download here) predicts that Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) will be adopted in K-12 schools within a year or less. According to the report 56% of US school districts are already implementing BYOD policies (the implication being that these policies encourage the adoption of BYOD strategies!).

They go on to mention Your Own Technology Survery (on p.34) - though unfortunately without providing the URL! Clearly if you are thinking of going down a BYO of 1:1 route then you should start by finding out about your students' existing kit - and YOTS can help you do that ...
